The Cheese Ain’t Free

On December 3, 2010, in Dumb Customer Question, by admin

I once had a guy ask why our cheeseburger cost more than the hamburger. I tried explaining that cheese costs us money, therefore costs the customer. After about 20 minutes he finally huffs and says whatever, I’ll just take the hamburger.

Feeling Violated

On November 21, 2010, in Rude Customer, by admin

So, I work in a restaurant that is really busy in the summertime. On one really busy night, I had a table of six. They sat at ”table 16,” the one table everyone of us hated. It was all on one check, they were very polite, and I thought for sure, I was gonna get at least $20 off of them.

I dropped the check off, and the elderly woman at the table took it. As they were leaving, I was taking another order, and the lady came up and told me how much they enjoyed my service. She then rubbed my ass and walked away. I went to the table to collect my tip and to my surprise, nothing. Not only did the lady molest me, and not leave a tip, but she didn’t pay her bill at all.

You are NOT ready to order

On October 26, 2010, in Restaurant Stories, by admin

I was pretty busy the other night and after I got this couple their drinks, I was going to let them know that I’ll be back to get their order so I can go greet my other table and take their drink order. But they told me they were ready to order, so I go ahead and asked what they would like.

The lady ordered one sushi roll, then proceeded to spend some time looking at the sushi list and then finally ordered another roll. When it is time for the guy to order, he started asking me what’s in a few of the sushi rolls. I started to get impatient so I asked, do you guys need a few more mins because i’ll be back. They said no. The lady then said, ya that’s it.

So I spent time explaining what’s in a few of the sushi rolls for the guy but he obviously wasn’t going to order any sushi to begin with. Then why even ask me! There is a list of description on the side that he can clearly read off! This really slows up my timing and in turn I have to let the other customer wait for me!

If you are not ready to order, don’t tell me you are ready and then have me stand there waiting for you to order. Don’t ask me questions that you can clearly get the answer if you spend a few minutes reading the menu. You are not my only table. I’ll be happy to answer questions that’s not on the menu but when I know that the answer is just right in front of you, I will get very unhappy!
